Best 10 Gaming Headset Review

1.Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Wireless Gaming Headset

Featured Comment

From an audiophile with 10+ years of using high quality gaming headsets, I will say confidently, this headset is so under rated and does not get the credit and recognition it deserves. I think it’s mainly because most people have this horrible image of TB being a child’s headset and not being high end.. which in some cases I can agree with and are true. I have tried low end TB headsets that I would certainly never use again, but the stealth 600 for PS4 was outstanding, and now they have the stealth 700 gen 2 which works for PS5.. let me just say wow. Firstly – I have a strong opinion that console headsets should be the most convenient to use right out of the box. This headset certainly didn’t fail to hit that mark. Especially when comparing it to the Arctis 7p .. I didn’t have to spend 2+ hours playing with my EQ settings and turning dynamic range compression on and off like I had to do with the arctis. It was a 2 second update, and it was done and ready to go. Secondly – the app on your phone makes it super easy to customize your preset, and even map your buttons on your headset. You can change the mic monitoring dial to the phone call volume when answering a call.. I found very cool.. you can map your buttons to change between different presets of your liking rather than superhuman hearing mode Thirdly – superhuman hearing mode : I seriously don’t see why people hate on it so much. Clearly it lowers the audio quality drastically to achieve crystal clear long distance footsteps. But I don’t get why people complain, it achieves exactly what you need it to do. My gunshots still sound decent enough to not be bothered, it’s still so loud that a sniper will make you jump like a cat , and believe me when I say it’s like cheating that you can hear enemy footsteps from a whole different part of the map on warzone lol. I do think the audio was slightly better on the PS4 pro, but nothing to be concerned about, I think it is mainly because of the PS5 3D audio. I found if you turn that off it gets louder, but the 3D audio rocks so honestly just leave it. Fourthly – The Bluetooth connectivity to your phone is absolutely superb. You can answer a phone call in the middle of a game, and it mutes your voice to the party chat but allows you to speak to whoever is on the phone – while still hearing your game audio as well as your friends. It’s absolutely amazing. You can even play music on your spotify and it mixes effortlessly with your game audio. And everyone knows very well how annoying it is when your friends are watching tik toks in the party chat LOL – not to worry with this headset cause the audio goes through the headphones . 10/10 on that. such an amazing key feature to have for a console headset. Finally AND MOST IMPORTANTLY – The sound quality is just *muah*. I have 0 complaints at all and I’ve used Astro A50’s Arctis 7p, Blackshark V2 Pro. Maybe maybeee the mids and highs are a little bit better on the Arctis 7, but the lows, the bass and the overall frequency range is MUCH better on TB than the arctis. When I used the arctis, as much as the audio was fantastic, there was a fine line between me and the immersion of the game, I just couldn’t feel immersed. These headphones cup right over your ears, and deliver sooo much power that it feels you’re inside whatever game you’re playing. 10/10 for that. The signature sound is amazing and switching to superhuman hearing for COD is as easy as 1 button on the headphones. The only issues I have with this headset are the rare connectivity issues and the tight clamping force, however, the connectivity isn’t a big deal at all as it’s usually just an extra 5-10 seconds it needs to pair up, and the clamping force gets better over time once you stretch it. – Leaving the headset clamped on something big like a detergent bottle really helps, but make sure you don’t stretch it too much If they made a headset with the same bass and same features as the TB but the same mids & Highs and comfort as the arctis, I think all the other companies would go out of business lol.. but until then, I choose power and immersion over comfort. Seriously if you’re still on the fence about getting this trust me just get it, you won’t be disappointed. I wish I had known from the start rather than going through a month of exchanging headsets lol TB nailed it !!!

PROS + Lightweight & Extremely Comfortable + Fantastic Sound For Both Gaming & Music + Good Mic Quality + Solid Build Quality + GameDAC Gen 2 Sounds Fantastic & Clear + GameDAC Gen 2 Has a Sleek, Easy to Use Interface with OLED Display + Easy to Adjust EQ Settings on GameDAC + Great Software on PC + Can be Used Across a Variety of Platforms + Works Great With PS5 Tempest 3D Audio + Sonar Spatial Audio Works Great on PC CONS – Soft Earcup Material Can Get Warm – Wasn’t Able to Get the GameDAC to Work With My Phone BUILD QUALITY With the exception of the magnetic metal earcup plates and a few accents, the headset is made-up of largely hard plastic, which feels very sturdy to the touch. The benefit of this build is that the headset is very lightweight, which when coupled with the elastic material on the headband, means that it is very comfortable to wear these headphones for long periods of time. The GameDAC likewise feels premium, with a soft rotating dial which controls all of the functions, and an OLED screen which looks great. As for the mic quality, it sounds good and retracts into the headset when you are not using it, which is a really nice feature that makes this headset great for non-gaming use cases. Combined with the noise-canceling software, you get a very clear vocal presentation when using the mic. All-in-all, this is marketed as a premium headset and it feels like one through and through. GAMEDAC & SOFTWARE The software on offer with the Arctis Nova Pro is great, both with the GameDAC, and with the Steelseries Sonar Software on PC. With the GameDAC, you get hi-res 96KHz/24-Bit audio, EQ adjustments, ChatMix control, volume control, and more. All of these are easily adjustable using the rotating dial on the GameDAC front panel, with different push controls to navigate the menus. The GameDAC itself is angled at around 45 degrees, so the screen is always easily visible, and the brightness can be adjusted up and down depending on how bright of a room you are in. If you are gaming on a PC, you can download the Sonar Software system for controlling the headset’s audio profiles, downloading firmware to the GameDAC, and adjusting the Spatial Audio settings. Being targeted at audiophile users, the software suite allows for a lot of control over the audio tuning of the headset, with custom EQ alongside several presets (I prefer the default flat preset). For the Spatial Audio, you can adjust the “immersion” level of the surround sound, as well as the virtual speaker locations, how close to your ears they should sound, and more. Personally, I found the Spatial Audio to work largely great. I have used a lot of virtual surround sound systems, from Windows Sonic, to Dolby Atmos for Headphones, to various headset proprietary software, and I personally found the Sonar Spatial Audio to perform very admirably. Like many software surround sound solutions for headphones, it is hard to localize sounds in front of you and above you, but the left, right, and back virtual channels largely worked very well in the test demos. When playing games, I found the spatial audio to be very immersive, and while occasionally some sounds can feel out of place, I tended to prefer to leave spatial audio on for many games, especially FPS games. I also tested the headset with GameDAC using my PS5, and found that it worked great with the PS5 Tempest Audio Engine for 3D sound in supported games. SOUND QUALITY If I had to describe the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro sound quality in one word, it would be “pristine”. Between the high quality drivers and GameDAC Gen 2, the audio from high-quality sources sounds incredibly clear and distortion free, with plenty of detail to take in. For music, with the default flat preset, you get very balanced audio with good mids and a smooth, but not overpowering, bass presence. This results in a fairly neutral profile that should please most, but if you want to tweak the EQ, you certainly can, which can help set the headset for your music preferences. However, while music is very pleasant on this headset, it is gaming where it really shines. That hi-res audio means that you can pinpoint a lot of the small audio cues, like footsteps, and pickup on a lot of texture in the sound mixing. I personally play a lot of single player games, and when using the spatial audio with a high immersion setting, I would quickly forget I was wearing the headset and become lost in the soundscape of the game. When playing multiplayer FPS games, I could very easily pinpoint where enemies were coming from, and react accordingly. All-in-all this is definitely an audiophile gaming headset, and it shows in the performance. Really very impressive. A FEW CONS Honestly, there is very little I don’t like about this headset, it really is fantastic, and as an amateur audiophile, it is even more impressive. Really, there are only two things I want to note. Firstly, I found that the soft, leatherlike earpads did get warm pretty quickly. It wasn’t enough to hamper my experience, but depending on how much your head sweats, or how warm you keep your home, your mileage may vary. Secondly, while certainly not the intended use, I do wish you could use the GameDAC with your phone. It might work for some devices, but for my Pixel 6, I couldn’t get the GameDAC to work when trying to play audio. It would work briefly, but the DAC would then quickly shut off and lose audio. It’s not a dealbreaker by any means, but would be a nice bonus to be able to use the GameDAC when listening to music from my phone at my desk with the headset while I work. But given it works great with PCs, for most people this probably is a non-issue.

3.Razer – Kraken x Wired 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch …

Featured Comment

Let me just say that I own Razer products and thought I should also go for a matching headset. The construction of these headphones was good but has its downside. The headband fits comfortably and wasn’t too snug. The ear cups had that luxurious, soft, and cushiony feel but after a while, my ears would steam up (maybe its not so much of a bad thing since it served as a reminder to get away from the computer for a bit). Now for the sound and mic….the sound is average, as to be expected from the price point. Its not bad, but also not the most remarkable. The mic left MUCH to be desired. I’ve had cheaper $25 Logitech backup headsets that delivered clearer voice output than these. I got on Discord with my friends to get their feedback and they all said that my previous (Logitech) one sounded clearer…which made me laugh and thought wtf (yes, I asked if they were trolling but they all said they weren’t). Now for the kicker…I resorted to using my Razer Seiren Mini as a mic instead since the mic on this one died out about 7 months from purchase. I figured that ok no biggie, at least the headset had held up and frankly, they were too darned comfortable to replace so I kept using them. Soon as they went 2 days AFTER the warranty WHAM…dead. I almost wanted to dig up the box to see if there was a note that read “These headphones will self-destruct 2 days after your warranty lulz”. So that is my experience with Kraken. There are better options out there for $60 so do your research and good luck!

4.EPOS H3 Closed Acoustic Wired Gaming Headset, White

Pros: Great sound, very clean sound from highs to low, with some of the clearest mids I have heard in a gaming headset. Vocals in music really come through, and overall the tuning seems well thought out for both music and gaming. Clean Bass, though some might want more power, Great build quality and super light weight design keeps you from even noticing your are wearing them. Mic quality is top notch, though some people complain about the volume not being constant, will update if I figure that out. Stereo sound positioning is the best I have heard, I play a ton of Destiny 2 and man this headset is a must for that game. You get to hear just how amazing Bungie’s sound design is. Cons: Cable creates a lot of noice unless you add a clip to keep it from moving. PC Cable is a bit short, required me to get a extension to for the mobile cable to the front 4pole on my case. Price? I feel like its not overpriced, but if it was 100 instead of a bit over that it would be even better.. Other: You need a good amount of power to run these things. I am running them off the onboard DAC and Headphone amp in my Crosshair VIII and they are great, but without that amp they might not be loud enough. Tested them on 3.5 output on my work laptop (some low end Realtek codec) and sound was not so great, so the quality of the source matters. I am not a BASS head, so some people may feel like these lack BASS punch. I think they are perfect for FPS gaming and music, but might not be amazing for movies. Grab some Anker Soundcloud 20’s for that.

5.Logitech G733 Lightspeed RGB Wireless Gaming Headset – White / Black

During the lockdowns I learned to play league with my boyfriend and “the boys”, my boyfriend built himself a brand new computer and gave me his old headset since it was better than Samsung phone earphones. We got a puppy and he unfortunately chewed through the headset chord. I needed a new headset that was wireless, I wanted something comfortable and light since I’m small and my head is very small. My choices were the SteelSeries, this and the Corsair Virtuoso. I watched and read many many reviews and personal opinions and kept going back to the g733 and SteelSeries. I decided on the g733 because of the consistent review (that males would mostly make or a Caucasian women gamers) on how tight or small it was. I could tell right away that it would fit me perfectly. I liked that it was mesh as opposed to leather for the fabric since leather gets really bad wear over time, and my boyfriend kept reassuring me that this headsets mic was going to be way better than the 6 year old $60 one I was replacing. I’m not too keen on the actual specs but right away I could hear the difference on how much better this one is, and all my guy friends said how crisp and louder my voice was. So, if you’re a small Asian girl like me, who likes to play league or games with your man & other friends, wants something light and comfortable without your neck hurting, with great sound and pretty good mic, and something beautiful, this headset is it! The two things I love about it is the fact that I can charge it and use it at the same time, I can use my phone chord to charge it too since it doesn’t require a battery in the headset like the SteelSeries, and how convenient it is to run the bathroom without feeling I’m taking off and putting on 7 pounds from my head. This headset is perfect for petite girls

6.JBL Quantum One PC Gaming Headset Black – Manufacturer Refurbished

These Quantum TWS earbuds sound fantastic…and they’re just what the doctor ordered, as it pertains to my needs and preferences in higher sound quality earbuds. They are relatively light in weight, sharp looking, and both fit and stay in place exceptionally while in my ears. Furthermore, they’re jam-packed with numerous advanced sound/noise cancelling/gesture control/fast charging/etc features. Though I can’t claim to be a huge gamer, I very much enjoy the advances in 3D VR technology, and watching movies that take advantage of high-end sound formats such as Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Atmos, etc. Additionally, finding and listening to 3D spatial music soundtracks, and even the occasional binaural YouTube videos, I must admit I was pretty skeptical earbuds would provide the kind of immersive 3D surround sound that I was hoping for. However, I will admit I was totally wrong in that assumption. The gamers will be more than impressed with these earbuds. Another big win for me with these earbuds is how quickly and easily these earbuds connect and/or switch between my work phone and computer. This is especially true when situations such being on an important work-related conference call and our dog is letting me know he REALLY needs to go out. Previously, I had to excuse myself from the room, or remove my wired or wireless headset and attempt to reconnect to the meeting as I moved too far from my computer. The device switching with these earbuds has been so quick I no longer miss what’s being discussed while reconnecting. There are only a couple of relatively minor reasons I couldn’t give the Quantum TWS Earbuds a full five out of five stars in this review. Having said that, if given the option I would have rated them a 4.5 out of 5 rating. Anyway, here’s what my concerns were. The overall build quality and appearance of the earbuds are fantastic, in my opinion, but I can’t say the same for the charging case. They charge quickly, and the earbuds quickly pull themselves into place to be charged, but it’s not the quality plastic material I’ve come to expect for such quality earbuds. I also wasn’t overly impressed with the included on-paper directions that came with the earbuds. The directions weren’t as clear-cut and straight-forward as I would have liked them to have been, and the font/print was so small it was very difficult to read them clearly. To close, even though there are a couple of things that I felt could be made better, I would highly recommend these earbuds to gamers and those who truly enjoy immersive 3D sound experiences…in a very minimalistic package!!!

7.Asus ROG Delta S Eva Edition Gaming Headset

Featured Comment

To preface: B&H was awesome and had these shipped next day on my doorstep. Awesome store, love coming back. They played no part in any part of this poor experience. Asus classifies this as 7.1 surround sound but it’s virtual 7.1. The software is awful as is with most of these and other RGB, mice, KB related softwares go. This one certainly takes the cake, it’s a pushy as heck gamer software that installs it’s own AI program to adjust settings or some nonsense. Honestly overall though, these are not a great set at all. The sound is poor and stereo-sounding, the muffle is nice but for the sound quality, it’s a very undeserving feature. The price point is a ludicrous almost two hundred dollars, which even by Asus standards should’ve been a decent buy, yet it wasn’t. the cord is incredibly short, but being a double USC-C was a savior of that shortfall. the RGB is useless and obviously shouldn’t be the reason you spend this much on a headset because this one is only marginally better than a cheap, mainstream set. I would not recommend this product, at all.

8.Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE High-Fidelity Gaming Headset – Gunmetal – Stereo

Review: coming from two roommates that wore Astro A40’s I cannot with these headphones. Everything sounds like its in a can. I have the vibe that having the built-in amplifier is diminishing the quality, to my ears at least. There’s even a noticeable difference in audio playback from recorded clips when the Virtuosos are processing the audio (I can share clips for reference.) It just doesn’t seem as mechanically capable. I don’t understand how reviews across the internet are favoring the Virtuosos. Playing Apex, I can’t really tell how far out fights are. I did get a good directional sense from them, yet somehow still felt disoriented. Once enough sounds start going off at the same time, it just comes through as a slightly distorted mess. These things could very well just be their brand hardware mixing, but I did play with their software mixer. It did ultimately nothing for the overall sound aside from what seemed like some volume adjustments. Not only am I unimpressed, I’m nearly disgusted with the experience. I’m sure some of this is coming from a place of unfamiliarity, given I’ve used Astros for like 3 years, but I at least notice a jump in quality when I experience it. These seemed to have no upgrade from any standpoint aside from their visual design. I’ll also admit that the leather ear pads are not comfortable to roomate B. Roomate A loves ear cuffs personally. Astros use fabric ear covers and are breathable. The corsairs had me feeling pressure at all times, surely being a factor of what was disorienting me. All in all, I can admit to a degree of bias, but I can’t let that dismiss all the negative of my experience. If I go wireless, It’ll likely have to be A50s.

I’m not a big gamer which is what Jonas Guelat and Team over at Logitech had in mind while designing this headset.. can’t wait to try the buds version with dual drivers. This model# 981-001003 Pro G comes with a detachable 2 meter (6.6′) super soft and flexible cloth covered cable with a mute switch at breast level, 240mm Qculus Quest 2 cable, Y splitter (mic/audio), 100mm length detachable Mic Cardiod (unidirectional) 6mm Condenser, USB external Sound card Pro DAC model# 881-000341, 50mm Drivers, Steel headband with nicely stitched leatherette padded cover, Aluminum earcup holders, and plush memory foam leatherette ear pads. My experience is mostly with AKG and JBL which I love and use daily. I love the detachable Mic and console cord.. makes it very easy to replace and switch Mic to a Lavalier or? I found the sound spectrum to be very good and directional awareness superb. The earcups and headband are super comfortable to where they can be worn for long periods without any discomfort. The noise cancellation works great, closes out the world outside and sucks you deeper into your adventure. Lately these are double timing as a Webex / Zoom meeting headset where I’m immersed in the meetings. Everyone in the meetings comments on my Microphone quality…. but to be fair, their all on built in mics or iBuds so it’s not apples to apples. Overall the 981-001003 Pro G fits into my collection well and I hope to be using them for a very long time. Cheers 🙂

10.Logitech Pro x Wireless Lightspeed Gaming Headset

I bought these because the pads on my old wireless bluetooth headphones had been worn thin and the company I bought them from no longer sold that pair. I bought these because I was looking for a solid set that sounded good – had modular capability (I kinda hate getting poked in the face by the mic) and were wireless. Well, I got two out of three things with that. I bought them thinking they were wireless, but they’re not – but it wasn’t a total deal breaker for me and was also on me for not realizing it, especially at the price I paid. The construction of these headphones are top notch. I love that they used actual thick metal for the headband and the hinges. That was my #1 issue with most logitech products is that the headband and hinges would break constantly. Now that they’re reinforced, I most likely will see the other parts break before the hinges and headband do. The sound is rather good compared to the G935’s and G933 Artimus Spectrums I’ve owned. The base is deeper, vocals are much clearer and sound more full. Over all an improvement for sure. For me it falls flat in the 7.1 surround sound settings. Even with plenty of fidgetting with the settings (It comes with it’s own software suite which is nice. I own a 603 wireless mouse and it shows me battery % and allows me to program the buttons on the left of the mouse.) and I could not get it to sound better than listening to everything through a tin can. Everything sounds distant and echo’s too much, but what can you really expect from digital surround sound? I’ve get to find a solid set of 7.1 headphones. I’ll stick to the real deal or a 5.1 sound bar. Over all, these headphones are a solid pick up if you want a pair of analogue headphones with some solid audio quality.
