Best 10 Tablets Review

1.used Apple iPad Mini 3 A1599 16GB Gold WiFi 7.9 inch Tablet (Used)

Featured Comment

I bought the iPad mini 3 on release for my mom, since she was wanting a tablet, and she has been using it every single day since then! For an aging lady whose eyesight is slowly deteriorating, she loves that the iPad mini is easier for her to read than on her phone. She just loves watching videos on there, and ESPECIALLY loves saving recipes! My mom is quite an avid cook, and for her to be able to easily look up and zoom in on recipes as she’s busy in the kitchen with messy hands is the greatest convenience. So, for my fellow Apple fans with busy moms, I highly recommend the iPad mini!

2.Lenovo Tab M8 32GB 8″ Tablet – Gray

Featured Comment

I’ll start with the bad stuff & end with the good. I bought the Lenovo Tab M8 to replace an aging Kindle 7″ tablet that was becoming unusable. Despite its problems, my old Kindle had a nice rubber-grip case that was much thicker. In contrast the M8 case is totally slippery aluminum and it’s about as thin as a phone, making it seem awkward and fragile. The volume and on-off buttons are unfortunately on one of the long sides; this placement seems intended to force the user to hold the tablet in portrait orientation, since the buttons will get in the way of almost any attempt to hold the tablet in landscape mode. The power button is quite sensitive, so any accidental touch will activate it. I always pick up the tablet by holding the long sides, so I must always look to see where the buttons are before picking it up. The back of the case curves toward a sharp edge at the front, making the unit hard to pick up when lying on its face (it’s heavier than a phone so you need a good grip). The rear camera protrudes from the case, so that when I lay the tablet on its back I may scratch the camera lens. To solve these problems of fragility, thickness, slipperiness, and button and camera positioning, I ordered the “MingShore Rugged Case for Lenovo Tab M8” from Amazon, which helps enormously. The case provides an edge around the M8 so that the buttons and camera are recessed rather than protruding. Without this case the M8 is simply a nightmare of poor physical design that makes it borderline unusable. In all my years of using my old Kindle, it never once occurred to me to buy a case for it. Because the case is so slim, the speaker is incredibly tinny. I went to “Settings->Sound” and clicked on the orange “Dolby” icon, which displays an equalizer. By setting the equalization to a linear decline I was able to make the speaker sound reasonable. It seems odd that Lenovo would ship this thing with “flat” equalization that sounds just terrible. An annoying feature of Android 10 (to which this unit updates) is that if you choose 3-button navigation, you cannot get rid of the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen even in full-screen video mode. The YouTube app eliminates the buttons when full-screen, but no browser I tried (Edge, Chrome) seems capable of this, and to make matters much worse the 3 buttons are contained within an annoyingly obvious white stripe. Hopefully either Android or the browsers will fix this problem. I made the always-present button bar much less annoying by choosing “Settings->Display->Dark Theme”, which makes the white stripe black. But that is Android’s annoyance, not Lenovo’s. The display and the performance are quite nice. I use the M8 mostly for browsing. I dowloaded Microsoft’s Edge, Bing, and Skype and all these seem to work. I am able to browse and watch videos in both portrait and landscape modes; I can hold it in any of four directions and it adapts instantly. Battery life seems good. I give this unit 5 stars for its electronics and screen, and 1 star for its rather miserable physical design. Manufacturers seem locked in a desperate struggle to make their products thin and light, but thin and light aren’t always “better”, i.e. more usable. Lenovo’s obsession with thin-ness and its decision to put the buttons on the long side, along with the super-slippery aluminum case, all as if this were some sort of giant phone, seriously reduces the tablet’s usability. Lenovo should include a rubbery custom case with the phone rather than forcing buyers to seek one out.

4.Leapfrog LeapPad Academy Kids Learning Tablet, Green

Featured Comment

I have 3 leap pad products in my house. The first had an issue with the touchscreen not working and the second with the sound from both the external speaker and headphones not working (The third is TBD). There is no external damage to any of these products – I get it that kids can be rough on stuff, but there is literally no signs of wear and tear. Every time I have called leap pad to troubleshoot, the warranty has “just lapsed” and there’s nothing that they can do to help. So I’m stuck with partially working leap pads. The thing that stinks is that you download all these games for around $20 each and you can’t use them. It forces you to go out and buy another leap pad tablet… so don’t even start! I’ve wasted too much money on this stuff. The thing that stinks is that the content of the games is fantastic, but the physical tablets are garbage. You’re better off buying an Amazon fire… it’s the same price, more availability of games, and SO much better customer service.

5.Apple iPad Air 4 – Wi-Fi – 64 GB – Sky Blue

I think it’s a great device for a great price. The iPad Air 5th Generation is very powerful and really benefits from Verizon’s amazing 4G LTE coverage. Most of the time I have had 5G nationwide coverage, but it’s often times the similar or worse than the 4G LTE. I assume it’s because it’s new technology and has some quirks. Every once in awhile the 5G nationwide gives me about 100mbps compared to 4G LTE at like 80mbps, but like I said the 5G has quirks like random dips in download and upload speeds. Serious dips under 1mbps. The 4G LTE is more consistent and saves battery so I almost always keep 5G off. I’m sure that if you have 5G UW coverage then it’s worth it to keep it on but I don’t have that here yet. Anyways, the tablet itself is unbeatable in value and quality. It’s just as powerful as the iPad Pro and it has everything you’ll need. It’s not worth $300-$400 extra for 120hz and AR sensors. There’s also probably going to be an upgrade to the pro this fall so you’ll be current for longer with the iPad Air. The only thing that holds the iPad back is iPad OS. It’s restrictive and missing a lot of features that would benefit it greatly. This is just because of Apple making their iPhones and iPads impossible to fully utilize with software restrictions. It sucks because jailbreaks are rare nowadays with current Apple devices. This shouldn’t be a huge problem if you also have a PC for the things that Apple restricts on iPad. Overall the iPad is great and I recommend it, but don’t expect it to be able to perform like your PC. The sad thing is that it’s powerful enough to run like a PC but it’s restricted by Apple. Regardless it’s great for what it does and you can’t beat it as far as cellular tablets goes. Definitely get the 256GB. It’s perfect.

6.Lenovo 7″ Tab M7 32GB Tablet (3rd Gen)

Upon receiving this, it did look a bit smaller than what we are typically use to but once we started using it, it was perfect for our 4 year old. I absolutely love the applications that are made available for my child to play and feel that they align with what I want to foster and develop. The parental controls while take some time to set up, are completely worth it and I am very satisfied with the ease of use after initial set up. I love that you can see how much time is spent on applications and that you can set up daily time limits and lock the tablet when limits are met, which sort of takes out the fight of telling him that he’s all done. We got my 4 year old This tablet after his insist use of using our phones for drawing, using the camera, timer, and other similar apps and this tablet with its applications has satisfied that need. He was easily able to navigate through the applications at ease without any help from us, after demonstrating to him the first time what the icons mean. Love that there is an option for multiple users but we haven’t needed to use it yet. The reason I give 3 stars is that from the get go the system does lag and can glitch at times, as in the application freezes at times. Some games have slow laggy sound to them. Sometimes when going from one application tk the next it can be choppy and laggy. There hasn’t been any complaints from my son except for the times applications do stop responding. It hasn’t been a problem for us but did want to note that about the quality of this tablet so that others know what to expect. Sound and sound quality is great, option for headphones as well. Overall we love it, and the case that comes with it is very protective. I would recommend this to other parents who are looking for educational screen time for their children as well as teaching some basic concepts of screen use in our ever inscreasing age of technology 🙂

My wife love to watch youtube. She had a Samsung 10.1 table and the screen was going out. I did not have enough money to buy another expensive tablet. So I figure this one will do for maybe a year until I save up. Right away the Type-C charger on this tablet is loose and the reset light keeps coming on. ” If the light is on, the tablet will not turn on. I bought it on March 11, 2022 and today is June 07, 2022. The battery will drain in less than two days. The battery will not charge unless I have the table sitting on the wire putting some weight on the wire. Even then, I have to keep wiggling the wires until the battery icon comes on. If any movement occur the wire is not charging the tablet. That is the biggest problem with this tablet is the charging. I have tried many wire/charger combos. The best way that I am charging this tablet is on my pc computer. Even then for a full charge is one day or more because it says slow charging. Sometimes it will say 4 hours and then says 1 day and 5 hours for full charge. Even if the plug comes loose the still have the 1 day 5 hours. In any other tablet or phone, the screen would reset until I try to plug the wire back to charge again. ”

I got this tablet because my previous Surface finally quit after 5 or so years of faithful service. I love the Surface, including this one, and it does what I need it to do. Having said that, however, there are some noticeable glitches: • Sometimes (perhaps 10% of the time I use it) the camera doesn’t work and the internal software can’t find it. There don’t seem to be any solutions to this other than restart and hope it works. • Many of the emojis that I used in Windows 10 to code my notes apparently do not exist in Windows 11. If they DO exist, for some reason this tablet won’t display them as anything other than empty squares. And many of the ones that DO transfer over are no longer in color. My green checkmarks are now gray. My Red X’s are black. My parchment-colored scroll is gray. My stop sign is an empty box. I am hoping a future update will correct this, but so far that hasn’t happened. • I don’t like the Start menu AT ALL. The icons are tiny and (as far as I know) non-customizable. I really miss the live tiles that were such a wonderful feature of Windows 10. (I realize that this is a Windows 11 issue, not a Surface Go issue, but if anyone purchases the Surface Go they will be using Windows 11) On the whole, this Surface Go 3 gets the job done reasonably smoothly. I recommend it, but it will certainly not replace my desktop computer — or even a laptop. I very much hope that the issues addressed above will be addressed, but even if they’re not it’s still an OK product. 3 stars.

I decided to provide my (pretty detailed) pros and cons list I’ve been regularly adding to as a review for this tablet. It’s really not a bad option in this price range, but keep in mind that the quality and performance aren’t going to just blow you away. I think this would be a fantastic option for younger kids, for somebody with little money who needs a device for web browsing and casual media consumption, or even for a specialized purpose. I’ve found the most use for mine out in my shop for reading service manuals and watching how-to videos! It’s low-cost, so I’m not as worried about getting it dirty, getting scratches on it, etc. I want to say that this pros and cons list has a lot more cons (or neutral things) than pros. This is pretty much to be expected–it’s a cheap tablet. However, don’t let that scare you away if these things don’t affect your usage! As I mentioned, I’ve found plenty of uses for it, despite the fact that I’m a pretty discriminating user. THE GOOD ————- –I love the size. I had a Nexus 7 back in the day, and think 7-inches is the perfect blend of compactness and usability. –It comes with the latest version of Android with latest security updates! This is a major improvement over uber-cheap tablets of the recent past with seriously outdated versions. –It has a headphone jack!!! Man, I miss those in phones, and luckily, it’s present here. (Another thing making it good for kids–do we really think they’re going to keep good track of a dongle accessory? –The custom implementation is fairly stock Android; no custom skin that makes it significantly different like Samsung and some others do –Has an SD card slot for expandability! That’s something you don’t get on higher-end devices. –The screen rotates upside down, even in portrait mode. (Another feature that can make it helpful for very young children, or for the shop use mentioned earlier where I might need to use it in awkward positions.) THE LESS-GOOD ——————- –Basically, the specs say it all. It’s not a powerful device, but at this price, who really cares? –By far, the biggest issue for me was the terrible sound quality and very low volume of the speaker! And the speaker is on the back, so if you lay the tablet, the (already low) volume gets even lower. —That said, this could be a positive if you get this laptop for a kid. It forces them to either keep the volume at an acceptable level, or to wear headphones. (Anybody with kids knows the pain of having to listen to the repeated annoying sounds in the games they play.) –The screen gets scratched INCREDIBLY easily. No gorilla glass here. This isn’t a big deal if you’re more proactive than me and just stick some screen protection on from day 1. You can buy sheet screen protectors online that you cut to size, since there probably aren’t any device specific ones available for this. I know I normally wouldn’t think to put one on such a cheap device, but in this case it’s pretty important. –Screen is quite low resolution. I expect that at this price, and find it acceptable for web browsing and video. However, it’s not ideal for reading. The low resolution means that smaller print isn’t very crisp. That’s a bit unfortunate, because otherwise this device would make an adept reader. Don’t get me wrong, it *works* and I do use it for this purpose some, but it’s really not ideal. –A bit slow, but perfectly acceptable for normal use like web browsing or watching videos. –Mediocre active battery life (it doesn’t help that screen brightness doesn’t have an “auto” option. This means if you leave it on max brightness and don’t manually turn it down, your battery will drain FAST.) Onn doesn’t advertise battery capacity information, but I calculated a capacity at 2,600 mAh. There is also no fast charging, so if you are used to that from a cell phone, you may be surprised when you rediscover what “normal” charging speeds are like, haha. –No picture-in-picture mode for videos(e.g. when watching YouTube or Netflix and then navigate to another app, the video stops playing instead of continuing to play in a small window. This is probably due to the lack of the “drawing over other apps” option discussed below. –A couple of the more advanced Android settings (like the accessibility option “Draw over other apps”) cannot be enabled, and display the message “This feature is unavailable because it slows down your phone.” I mean, thanks for looking out for me, but I’d appreciate a warning that still allowed me to enable the features despite reduced performance. –Not a negative, more neutral: Android Go is a weird feature that definitely doesn’t need a permanently visible nav button for it. It’s basically just a separate launcher from your main home screen launcher. (So you can an app button on your home screen to launch yet another, less functional, home screen.)
